The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-L8SP controller is a GuardLogix controller module from the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix module series. It can handle safety logic and safety connections that standard ControlLogix modules cannot accommodate. It draws its power from the power supply in its chassis, and its chassis can be either a Series C ControlLogix chassis for standard applications, and when it is operating in derated temperature conditions, it can be installed in a Series B ControlLogix chassis. It can operate as the only controller in a control system or alongside additional controllers. The 1756-L8SP safety controller module is an essential part of an application that has safety and motor connections, especially if it is the only controller in the system because it is responsible for making all the safety and motor connections.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-L8SP GuardLogix safety controller module can also be used alongside a standard controller module in a system where the safety module only makes the safety connections for the system while the standard module only makes the motor connections for the system. Alternatively, the system can include 2 safety controller modules where 1 safety module handles the safety connections and the other safety module handles the motor connections.
